What are your reasons to do Neurohacking?

Hello dudes!

I think that can be a good idea to "know better each other", know what are your reasons, motivations, to do Neurohacking?

So, i start first =)

Probably all of us have differents expectations and objetives from it. I liked the analogy from one of the tutorials where it makes the analogy from fitness, where some people do it only for a bit of fun, others to get a better shape, and some want to be an athlete etc.

In my case i should divide it in two "phases":

The first, at the very very beggining (when i first found this in the yahoo group, and read for the first time ICMM) i felt it more like a child thinking "Oh wow, yeah man, i want to have a 160+ IQ!, have photographic memory, and be a genius!" kind of motivation.

The second, more mature, and realistic one, was (is) "to be what biology (or should i say "intelligence"?) expect me to be" if anxiety is a sign of an unhealthy system i don't want to have it in my life, if sentiments and only emotions are the way the brain is designed to operate, then, i want to have it that too.

If biology expect me to have a "100% balanced brain" with 100% scores in all networks, that's the path i want to follow .. whatever times it takes, and whatever new abilities unlock, and increase functionality comes with it.

That's my path, and of course i will enjoy walking it =)

“Become what you were meant to be” - Elrond, in Lord of the Rings

So, what about you guys? =)

PS: This question was inspired today when i re-read the first and second chapter of ICMM again, and forgot how awesome it was (because it feels like a personal journey, and it has for me like a "matrix style movie" vibe that i loved it!), and is hard to avoid thinking how good will the sequel when it comes!.

Re: What are your reasons to do Neurohacking?

dear dudes,

Initially NH caught my attention as it was in line with my general interests.  What kept me really interested was the surprising and refreshing quality of non-coercion.  Here on NHA there is no selling.  There is only very generous interaction.   This is so rare.  Most anyone who thinks they have a key to better living wants money fame and power in exchange for the key.  And mostly these "key holders" also become rigid with dogma.  Now a year into NH I do not see any signs of this.  It is almost too good to be true.  ; )

Re: What are your reasons to do Neurohacking?

Hi dudes,

There's a fair selection right here:
http://www.neurohackers.com/index.php/e … es?start=1

But I guess that's cheating...so...

Originally, to live a long and healthy life while doing whatever I wanted to without any bad consequences. How to have my cake and eat it.
Now, quite simply, I'm addicted to freedom  :  )
Freedom from anxiety, freedom from being dragged about by hormones, mine or other people's, freedom from hassle, freedom from coercion...freedom to explore the wonderful universe...freedom from conformity to harmful systems...freedom to become whatever I'm able to be, do whatever I'm able to do.

Most of the real shit times in my life have been due to three related things: (a) Being drawn or  influenced by others into TE shit, (b) circumstances I set up/failed to set up in the past causing me hassle in the present, and (c) reluctance/anxiety over facing consequences stopping me from saying 'no' because nobody taught me how to say no without being rude.

NH has changed that. I've taken control of who I choose to hang out with and where -that solved most of the problem. The crap I can't avoid gets turned into determination to improve interaction. Keeping track of and control of my own state of mind and behavior is the key to stopping crap from starting, and I'm just getting the hang of doing this is real time.

It makes me optimistic for the future and much less hassled by nonsense. The other great things I'm practicing hard are forward planning and strategy. Need lots of practice yet  :  )  but I feel a lot more confident and like I am at the helm of my own life, and that's cool. Now I need to learn how to navigate through storms  :  )

Best,
AR
PS Oh I forgot also -to get wrecked and have a good time!

Re: What are your reasons to do Neurohacking?

Hi dude, welcome aboard  :  )

This whole site is about neurohacking and it's a place where we all help each other to help ourselves. As this is a 'lifelong journey' you obviously have some experience, so follow up the areas of your own greatest interest and you'll find plenty of info here. The tutorials will give you an all-round briefing on the brain & mind and for particular areas of exploration use the search function. The sections for 'newbies' and 'community' will tell you more about us and about NH, and you are now in the forum where you can get first-hand experiential reviews of our own discoveries, successes and mistakes along the path  :  )

Nice to meet you! Feel free to share any of your own experiences or ideas, and if you have specific questions fire away.
Best regards,
AR

Re: What are your reasons to do Neurohacking?

Dudes, hey!  I am recently Aboard and still walking around slowly looking at everything ... listening at doors, hearing echoes of laughter down halls ... pausing to look out the windows.  WOW!  That's some view!  [Breathes deeply.]  It's pretty oxygen-rich in here, isn't it?

Why NH for me?  My reasons?  I'm in my middle-50s and recently realized that it is time to turn my attention and energies toward "quality interactions/interacting" as a personal goal.  Biologically my breeding imperatives are ebbing ... mating-rivalry is lessening ... and these are tidal pulls that have bent my "self" strongly over the years.  (This is my interpretation.)  I am here at this moment assessing my Self and challenging that self to embrace a future not of decline, but robust and deliberate growth!

I found this community of fellow journeyers and asked to be allowed on board ... get to know other passengers and researchers.  To do my own research and experimentation and to be a witness and "validator" of others' journeys and research.

My parents were schoolteachers ... my mother with a teaching minor in Science while my father taught Industrial Arts (specifically wood shop).  That information is only relevant to this thread by way of explaining that I grew up with Science and the scientific method as well as tool-use and a general absence of family-of-origin-enforced mainstream gender roles.

Thank you all for sharing Your reasons for NH.  See you around the corridors!  smile

Re: What are your reasons to do Neurohacking?

Hi dudes,

Wow I had forgotten about this thread  :  )
For those who answered (even if only to themselves) what were their reasons then, I find myself wondering what are our reasons now, and have they changed much?

In one sense it's got very simple for me at this stage: A>B where A = benefits and B = stasis or decline. As long as I find myself and my circumstances improving, I see no reason to stop learning. But that's common sense talking  :  )  What I really feel is nosey. Every answer, while satisfying in itself, raises more intriguing questions. There's an urge to 'complete this part of the jigsaw', or at least to get a glimpse of the big picture of reality.

Also, I haven't lost the urge to reproduce -although I don't want to reproduce my genes any more; -now I want to reproduce thoughts, ideas and information in creative ways. Bits of mind (or, as DeGrasse Tyson so neatly puts it, 'brain droppings')  :  )

Set course for Tutorial 13...
