No worries dude  :  )
I just gotta ask...(and bear in mind I only just woke up, okay?)...Where are there PDF icons in tutorials?

Re: Newcomers Questions - Site Related

ah yeah, the "PDF thingy"... m'yeah that's bummer but this joomla component never wanted to work properly as soon as there are more than 2 lines of raw text in the article...

For Alex's general culture, the PDF icon is a little picture of a PDF document which appears at the top-right position of every article on the site, officially destined to automatically produce a PDF version of the full corresponding article, for archiving and printing purposes.

But it usually lamentably fails, aside for the FAQ section's ones maybe... smile

See ya,
Scalino

PS (this post first ended up in the hello world topic, I don't know why...)

Re: Newcomers Questions - Site Related

Okay dudes... here's what you can do in order to obtain a similar result than what would have been a "working PDF icon"...

Go to google and type: "CutePDF writer", which is a free PDF virtual printer. It will install a new printer on your machine (accessible from anywhere you use the 'Print' function) that will generate a PDF file instead of sending it to a physical printer.

Once this is done, use the Printer icon instead of the PDF icon on any NHA article, which will open a new window/tab of your browser with a printer-friendly version of the article. Then press CTRL+P and select the "CutePDF Writer" printer in the printers list.

It will ask you to name the file and you got it! smile

The only problem is that it doesn't care too much of pages jumps that may happen anywhere in the resulting document... To enhance this, the only solution is to move deeper into the wonderful world of PDF edition, with something like Nitro PDF, that will allow you to modify the text, but be aware it is a profession in its own right smile  (By the way, NitroPDF offers a PDF printer too, but the free version inserts a mandatory NitroPDF picture at the bottom right of generated documents pages)

Have fun!
Scalino

>CutePDF - oh nice find smile
I wanted it the other day for offline reading on the iPad. I guess Instapaper would have done the trick too but I'll bear CutePDF in mind. Thanks.

Hi guys,

Neurohacking Tutorial 2 - N1 & N2 + Self Assessment - Summary and Exercices says:

"There are some suggestions of different types of music to listen to, and how to use music in your daily life for effective anxiety management, in the article “Music and neurotransmitters”.

Just thought I'd let you know that I can't seem to find that article. Also did a search on Google for "site:neurohackers.com “Music and neurotransmitters”" but it turns up nothing. Cheers

...Yes you're right, and even weirder is it's not in my database either! This is a genuine mystery; thanks very much for pointing it out. I am wondering if I intended to write a backup article or if something got lost into a black hole  :  )  Anyway I changed the phrase to 'in future tutorials', which should prevent confusion, and have called Mulder & Scully.
Best,

Re: Newcomers Questions - Site Related

Ok, so I am posting here, though I am a longterm member because time after time I attempt to get involved with the dialogue once again but get so overwelmed by all the information that I have no idea where to start and where to post.  Perhaps that's just typical of forums.  The other barrier I so often meet is that when I do start reading something I get so very bored after the first five lines dispite realizing that there are so many invaluable tidbit of info here.

Perhap it'll take time to refamiliarize myself with all this so that I can start to gobble it up again.  I could really use an easy button or a handicap ramp.

Thust is the dilema of the stupid mind aspiring toward something smarter. Mercy please smile

Hi dude,
Re: I attempt to get involved with the dialogue once again but get so overwelmed by all the information

Hey dude I don't care where you post, it's good to hear from you  :  )

Entering any conversation part way through is not easy*. If you've been away for a while, why not just start your own thread? Those of us who've been here as long as you all know who you are  :  )

* For example I am walking past the communal living room yesterday and I hear two voices:
“Just get it between your legs and shove it in!”
“Push harder!”
“It won't fit! It's gotten bigger than last time!”
“It can't have gotten bigger, these have shrunk! Look, start with the corner!”
“Dude, it's like trying to get a condom on an elephant!”
“It's slipping! It's slipping! Shove it in quick! Keep it between your legs!”

Overwhelmed by all the information, and aware of the house rule 'no bonking in communal areas', I call out, “Everything ok in there?”

A voice says, “Hey dude, could you give us a hand to get these clean covers onto the giant cushions?”

Best,
AR

Okay, here's the deal, on a technical basis it seems ok, there should be no particular problem (though we may have to tweak it a little bit in order to get a similar overall theme).

Now, there's a free version of it but it comes with ads and we'll have to pay 29$ if we want them removed.

What we can do is I download the free version and install it, we see what we get (ads problem put aside), and if you think it's worth the money we see to get the basic version so ads will be removed?

Re: Newcomers Questions - Site Related

Thanks Scalino, the version with ads would be fine with me.  I'm good at ignoring.  If you do end up going with the upgrade, great!  Pass the plate and I'd contribute.  Having easier access to the NHA from my mobile device would be so awesome!

Re: Newcomers Questions - Site Related

Mmm'yeah...

well, it's up and running BUT still lot of work ahead to get something visually close to the regular layout & something ergonomically usable in order to navigate through the whole site.

So, at this stage, what you should get if you type "neurohackers.com" on your mobile's browser is - by default - the "middle component" of the homepage (meaning from "Welcome to NHA" to the end of AR / Linford Wood article)
And so it means: no top banners nor menu items, no side modules (left menu & "popular articles", "tag cloud" modules), no login module, etc...

Nice in terms of "automatic rescaling" of articles/pictures display, but for the rest I think you'll find it a bit restrictive in terms of ease of navigation... smile

I didn't see any ad for now...

One thing to know on the mobile version's default page, if you scroll all the way down, you should find a link to switch to the standard version (you will need it to actually do something on the site, as long as I won't have finished digging the issues at hand and this component being activated)

Have (littl') fun

Re: Newcomers Questions - Site Related

Hi everyone!
I have been currently dealing with motivations problems, I'm a great believer that you should do what you love and motivation cames, althgouth i haven't figure out how motivate myself in tasks that i don't enjoy, recently i have set the goal for completing the my driving license, and every time I study that manual I get a really intense brain fog and ending just quiting. Any tips on learning quickly and get some mental clarity ?

Thanks

Hi dudes!
gustavoreiki wrote: I haven't figure out how motivate myself in tasks that i don't enjoy,

...Know what you mean dude, I hate shaving!  : )

'Why-chain analysis' might help? (See tutorial 13, NHA guids section). -You ask yourself why you are doing what you are doing; ie, what's the goal, and then you keep on asking 'why?'. So in your case, WHY do you want to pass a driving test? Maybe the answer is 'because I want to drive legally in a particular place.' So, why do you want to do that? And so on. Eventually you get to the root reasons for why you're doing what you're doing. If that reason seems beneficial, you bear that in mind when doing the task. If that reason isn't beneficial, it's probably best not to go there.

Driving isn't a very healthy thing for humans to do, so there has to be a good, sensible reason for doing it thast outweighs the negatives. Once you know clearly what that reason is, motivation becomes much easier.

Btw, these sorts of questions are best posted in topics about neurohacking -otherwise they might not be noticed so easily.
Best,
AR
