Ah, ah!! Excellent translations... smile

And yep, I also felt like Hawkins was onto something groovy. As soon as I have some quality time ahead, I'll have a look at his API.

I'll keep you up.

RE: www.nih.gov/news/health/aug2012/nichd-28.htm/
I appreciate the fact that 'ordinary people' are slowly starting to notice stuff about cortisol and anxiety, but this article is so sad, and deeply offensive.

This is twisting scientific fact to maintain conformity to all the things that really cause us anxiety in the first place, such as schools and work splitting up families. Blaming neglect/abuse on peoples' financial status and labeling success as 'doing better in school', it almost reads like a nazi manifesto with “How can we control these prisoners better” as the starting question.

Replace the term 'poor people' with 'Jews' and it would be one. Poor people are more likely to harm their kids? How come the sickest kids all live in the rich industrial west then??

How far is this from 'here's the proof that poor people should all be sterilized?'

Articles like this leave me feeling disgusted and dispirited and thinking, what's the point?

Fortunately I can reboot my mood with a compound superior to drugs for Alzheimers, so will turn this into determination to do better  :  )

'A groovy little memorizing method'

Most cool. I've added this link to Sakiros hackipedia in resources.

Interesting thing to test: would it work even better if I associated the locations of items in the same configuration as networks on the inner model?
I want to create a version based on six, I've gotten so used to working with that configuration I could just superimpose it on my brain map  :  )

I wish I had time to play with this today, gotta wait its turn in the queue!  :  )

Naja, it was a silly joke.  Based on my interest in the Hedonistic Imperative movement.

Re: Mainstream Watch

Hey dudes .. just come here .. who have the drugs to share?! LOL =)

On topic .. we have our popular "smile hack" .. but remember we can "upgrade" it and add "body hacks" too!

"Behave as though is happening and ... " - NH Golden Rule

"Amy Cuddy: Your body language shapes who you are"

Body language affects how others see us, but it may also change how we see ourselves. Social psychologist Amy Cuddy shows how “power posing” -- standing in a posture of confidence, even when we don’t feel confident -- can affect testosterone and cortisol levels in the brain, and might even have an impact on our chances for success.

Re: Mainstream Watch

Hi dudes,
Re: "Amy Cuddy: Your body language shapes who you are"
A curious bit missing here...most of the primate studies have shown the largest change to be in serotonin levels rather than testosterone, I'm surprised that this, and its link with increased confidence and self esteem, wasn't mentioned.

Having said that, this video led to a clarification for me of a better explanation of “Behave as though...” which I share with you here.

We've encountered this kind of 'don't want to feel like a fake' resistance a lot, and it really is just a matter of not understanding what's going on.

We are too used to the physical reality -behaving as though we don't have a missing leg will not make that leg grow back. That's macro scale biology and it doesn't work that way.
On the nano scale, behaving as though we don't have a missing network WILL make that network grow back. That's the vital difference. By using the postures of confidence, we are adjusting the rest of the brain to match up with what it thinks is reality. It's the epitome of neurohacking, and it works very well indeed. Using one bit of a network (for example in these postures) is what causes the rest of the network to develop.

There is a link here between visualization and body posture. When we do the power poses it MAKES our unconscious mind visualize the images of those postures and call up all associations with those postures. That imaging has associated weighting in N3 that is the cause of the system response (chemical cascade) that signals the genome to produce proteins that will match up our neurochemistry more closely with our posture. The unconscious tries to 'become more like what it is surrounded by'. If it could think in words it would be thinking something like, 'This posture implies higher status, so I'd better adjust these neurochemicals to those of higher status persons'...  Having those chemicals in our system tweaks our behavior to that of a higher status person, and voila! We have become whatever we surrounded ourselves with.

This is exactly what we're doing when posing as superman as kids -we are not just 'pretending to be superman'; we are actually experiencing what it feels like to have superman's internal chemistry; to feel those emotional changes and experience in ourselves that confidence and power. As we play externally with our environment, we are playing internally with emotional states (“states of mind”) and learning how to summon different ones, in practice for when we need them in adult life. We are transforming ourselves through play.

A talk of Temple Grandin and how she "thinks in pictures"

http://www.ted.com/talks/temple_grandin … minds.html

Interesting point of view of how his mind works .. a serendipity there when she said that she can "test run" devices in his imagination too like tesla did =)

Alex from around 5:00 she shows a picture of his brain and the difference from a "normal" one, can you explain what are exactly the anatomic difference that she refers too?

Enjoy!

Hi dudes!

Well, this one doesn't qualify as basically "mainstream", but it's so well said and presented...

it's called "The Primacy of Consciousness", by Peter Russell :

Enjoy!

Sorry dude; can't oblige -I am unable to watch TED vids since they changed their system. I have mailed them and they have said they're looking into it, but so far no further response. This is quite a bummer, because on the whole I love TED.

A secondary problem is you may need a less biased person because I don't love Temple Grandin; in fact I dislike Grandin's work quite a lot. I detest the 'autism is better than normal' brigade's attitude because it undervalues the most vital things in life, such as love, bonding, and (hardly incidentally) intelligence development. I have the same problem with deaf parents who want their children 'made deaf'. They don't notice the tragedy of the loss of experience of music, for example, because they've never experienced it themselves, so assume it's not important.

Of course the world needs all kinds of different minds, but it needs all kinds of different healthy minds, not a selection of people with various dysfunctions.

All healthy people think in pictures (more clearly, patterns) unconsciously -the unconscious can't think any other way. We can also think in numbers, words, or code; with other networks.

I'll stop here to avoid a rant, and watch this whenever I'm able; I'll try my best to remain open minded  :  )  If anyone is able to download it, I may be able to view the download.
Best,
AR
