Check out this unique video that gives viewers a colorful peek into the complex workings of the human brain as it thinks. In this case, we’re “flying through” the brain of a volunteer who’s been asked to simply open and close her eyes and hands, National Geographic reports. This 3D brain visualization was created by researchers at the University of California (UC), San Francisco, and UC San Diego with a combination of technologies, including an MRI scan, EEG—which records electrical activity in the brain—and diffusion tensor imaging, a process that reveals tissue layout. Known as the Glass Brain, the imaging technology works in real time and may be used to learn more about how the human mind processes information.
